See Jane Tri: A Brief History
The See Jane Tri Triathlon is the most fabulous and fun women's triathlon this side of the Mississippi! Athletes swim 400 yards, bike 11 miles then run 3 miles in a fast and exciting race. The event is open to all women, and takes place annually in the Fall. A warm and supportive atmosphere sets this race apart. It's fun. It's inspiring. It makes you feel good.
The name See Jane Tri was created by See Jane Run Sports in 2002 as a training team with 31 members who completed the Danskin Sprint Triathlon. As a training team, See Jane Tri has grown to over 200 women each session who train for sprint, Olympic or half-ironman triathlons.
The See Jane Tri Triathlon was created in 2004 by See Jane Run for women who want to complete a challenge, push themselves physically and have fun at the same time. It is a short race as far as triathlons go, meant to be accessible to beginning and hard-core athletes alike. Co-ed races can be intimidating and overwhelming to women athletes; our goal is to inspire women to be fit and active by providing a supportive, safe and fun race to compete in without the stress of competing against men. Complete this race, and you realize you can complete anything you set your mind to. Finish faster next year, and you're a rock star. A fit rock star.
The first See Jane Tri Triathlon was held in Napa Valley in 2004. In 2006 we moved the race to Pleasanton, CA, which is more accessible to the Bay Area and has a better race course. As part of our commitment to promote women's health and well-being, a portion of each registration is donated to the Breast Cancer Fund.
This year, See Jane Tri has more support than ever with new sponsors, a better course, and a bigger post-race party! You don't want to miss this event. It has the potential to change your life.
